Campaign against Child Labour

Baghlingampalli, June 12: Group of NGOs 14 in particular under Network for Protection of Child Rights (NPCR) organized campaign against child labour from 8^th to 12^th June 2016 in different areas of GHMC limits. NGOs are: Amanvedika, Ashray, Asritha, APSA, Balatejassu, COVA, Don Bosco Navajeevan, APMWS, MV Foundation.

The campaign was planned in advance with number of planning meetings with all NGOs and decided to release a poster against child labour before the event takes place. On 02.06.16, Sri. Nayini Narsimha Reddy, Hon. Home Minister, Telangana Government released a poster and the NGO representatives gave him brief details regarding campaign. After due meetings with NGOs, the campaign started on 8^th June 2016 and went on till 12^th June 2016.

The inauguration of the campaign was organized at the premises of Labour Department near RTC X Roads at 10am on 8 June, 2016. Justice Laxman Rao was the chief guest and there are other dignitaries present from the department of Labour. There are many representatives from networking organizations along with their Directors and senior staff members present for inaugural programme. Justice Laxman Rao garu inaugurated the campaign with his keynote saying that we want to see the child labour free city and all are welcome to be part of this campaign. The campaign proceeded to with dappu and with slogans in and around Musheerabad constituency on the first day. On the second day, the team had gone to marredpally division and went all the wards where there are many residential towers and the campaign went on till evening. On the third day, the members gathered at Gandhi hospital and went around different divisions in GHMC area where there are many residential flats. On the fourth day, the team went to New Bhoiguda area with slogans. 

During the campaign the members were able to rescue two boys and a girl working as domestic labourers. They were sent to rehabilitation and the message had reached to many through print and electronic media. On 12 June 2016, the concluding and the day of World day against Child Labour was organized at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram. Mr. Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor of GHMC was the chief guest and Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Corporator of Musheerabad as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries on the dais were Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Mr. Nagaraju, Fr. Sudhakar, Mrs. Syamala Devi andMr. Imtiaz Rahim from DCPU. All of speakers wish is to see Hyderabad as child labour free city and wished everybody to work hard for the betterment of children. There were special thanks to the campaign team members for their four day campaign which was not easy to walk all the day. With the help of everybody involved in campaign was successful and got appreciated their efforts.
