Slow and steadily marching towards Success

Hayathnagar, May 20: Don Bosco Prem Seva Sadan (DBPSS) had its humble begins in February, 2009 with number of activities under taken by Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), Development Office of the Salesian province of Hyderabad. The land and building was gifted by Ms S. Margret (AMMA) great benefactor of Salesians and personally known to Fr Noel Madhichetty SDB, the then Salesian Provincial of Hyderabad. DBPSS always served for the poor and marginalized boys and girls for their welfare and well being. Fr. Bellamkonda Sudhakar SDB, the than Director of BSK organized number of programmes for the youth. In a short span of two years more than 300 hundred boys and girls were prepared for various jobs and successfully placed them in jobs. It also housed more than 60 working boys. For two year it also served to organize summer camps for boys and girls from all over united Andhra Pradesh. For about two years not many programmes were organized.

With the written request of Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ) to Provincial and Council as part of the Bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco (1815-2015) to start a home for girls who are in need of care and protection. Request was accepted and handed over to DBNJ on 24th April 2015. Fr Raminedi Balaraju, Salesian Provincial blessed the house in the presence of staff, students. Sr. Valsa belonging to the Schoenstatt lay sisters association took care of the centre first four months. Then she left DBPSS end of December because of her ill health. Then we made a request to Sr. Chinnamma, Regional Leader of Holy Spirit sisters, she has assigned one of the sisters working at Nampally to take care temporarily.

We made steady progress during the year 2015-16.  God has blessed the home with generous benefactors both from Abroad and India. They have contributed for the renovation and maintenance of home. Still it requires lot of repairs. Hopefully we will complete it by June 2016.

Today we have 35 girls aging from 6 to 18 years. Some of them are attending regulars schooling and others are learning computers and Tailoring. We have dedicated staff who are following them up attentively and with personal interest. At the moment we have facilitates only for 30 girls.

Fr Provincial blessed New Computer lab and Tailoring centre at girls home on 2nd May 2016. We thank Genpact who supported this project. Ms Jasmine, Assistant Vice President of Genpact inaugurated by cutting the ribbon. She was accompanied by Mr Radha Krishna and Mr Adrian who are representing for Genpact Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). During short cultural programme Fr Provincial thanked the Genpact for supporting DBNJ. While interacting with the children, Provincial encouraged them to make use of the opportunities provided them to have better future. He also in advance invited them for the silver jubilee celebrations of the province which will take place in the month of November 2016. Our Children honoured the guests with the shawls. Prior to it Fr Sudhakar Bellamkonda, Director of Don Bosco Navajeevan homes, explained the progress of the DBPSS home in last one year and future plans for the home. He also thanked Genpact representatives for supporting DBNJ technical school, Ramanthapur 3 years. Through their support we equipped with new machines in Welding, Carpentry, Bakery, Tailoring, Electricals and Printing Press. During this one month camp we will be training girls in Spoken English, Tailoring, Computers and Dance.
