Workshop on ‘Substance Abuse’ for Teachers and child Counselors

Hyderabad Sep. 26: Don Bosco Research Centre, Mumbai have organized a two day workshop for the Teachers and NGO staff on Substance Abuse on 25th and 26th September 2015 at Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. There were 50 participants from different Schools and NGOs. The same workshop has been organized in another 10 cities of India. Mrs. Dhakshayani along Mrs. Hemalatha and Mr. Swapnal has conducted the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated with lighting the lamp at 10am. Fr. Sudhakar, Director, Don Bosco Navajeevan gave an introduction about the workshop and welcomed all the resource members and participants. 

During registration, all the participants were given Post Assessment forms to be filled so as to know the participants expectations as well as their level of understating Substance Abuse.  The workshop began with introduction of all the participants and Dr. Mohan Roy took the session of different Substances and their classification. He also briefed the impact of such substance usage. The sessions included with small exercises and interaction. The participants were very happy to be part of the workshop as they have learned many things in substance abuse. Some of the teachers too do not know some of these terms earlier. 

On the second day, Mr. Swapnal took all the sessions in coordination with Mrs. Dhakshayani and Mrs. Hemalatha. The participants interacted well and even Mr. Swapnal was very much happy to give the answers and part of exercises. It was good experience for all the participants as they have learned many things and now they confident enougu to deal with children in NGO homes and School. Some of the participants suggested organizing same type of workshops in colleges too. All the participants were given Participation certificates and the workshop concluded by 4pm.
